Registration is now open for the international conference “Perspectives of Nuclear Energy Development”, which will take place on 14 May 2026 at 10:00 at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. The event will also be available online.
The conference is organized by the Lithuanian Nuclear Energy Association, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and the Latvian Development and Innovation Training Center as a joint Lithuanian-Latvian initiative aimed at fostering informed public discussion and greater awareness of nuclear energy development in both Lithuania and Latvia.
The event will bring together speakers from leading nuclear energy countries to discuss current nuclear energy programs, ongoing and planned projects, and the latest technological developments. The conference is expected to attract government representatives, members of parliament, energy experts, and other decision-makers, while also contributing to wider public awareness of developments in the nuclear energy sector.
The conference will open with remarks by Romualdas Kliukas, Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania. The program will feature Andris Kulbergs, Member of the Parliament of Latvia, who will speak on the future of the Baltic energy system and the need for controllable and sufficient base capacity. Kalev Kallemets, CEO of Fermi Energia, Estonia, will share lessons from nuclear deployment in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, while Kristjan Mihhels, Business Development and Strategy Analyst at Steady Energy, Finland, will discuss the use of nuclear energy for heating cities. Algirdas Kaliatka, Chief Researcher at the Lithuanian Energy Institute, Lithuania, will present Lithuania’s involvement in European nuclear energy research. Martin Mansfeld, Senior Project Manager, and Antanas Romas, Senior Simulation Specialist at KSU Vattenfall, Sweden, will focus on the development of a global training programme for BWRX-300 technology. The conference will also feature leading experts from the European nuclear energy sector, including Paweł Gajda of the Polish Ministry of Industry, Poland, and Stefano Monti, President of the Italian Nuclear Association and Director of Research at ENEA, Italy, who will share their professional experience and insights into current developments in nuclear energy.
Participation in the conference is free of charge. The working language of the conference will be English.
