We invite students to embark on an animation film-making adventure!”A Foal, a Cow, a Little Lamb, and Other Creatures of God.”

Animator-artist-director Dace Liepa wants to find friends to conjure up the magic of motion – animation – together! Therefore, the association “Development and Innovation Learning Centre”, in cooperation with Mazsalaca City Library, Storytellers from Mazsalaca and Ramata, the Jēru Club, Ramata Parish Library, the creative house “Vērši”, Rūjiena Culture Centre, and the improvisation theatre “Imprūven”, invites students aged 7 to 18 to participate in creative workshops.

The first meeting will be on August 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Mazsalaca City Library. During the first session, participants in the storytellers’ workshop will explore tales from the Mazsalaca region about various adventures with domestic animals. After listening to the stories from Mazsalaca and Ramata storytellers, children in the screenwriting workshop will create the film’s script.

Subsequently, in the art workshop, we will paint the film’s backgrounds, and in the felting workshops, we will create the animation characters. In the music/sound, improvisation, and stage speech workshops, we will learn to listen attentively, tell stories, sing, and make music to create the film’s audio part. At the “UGA records” sound recording studio, we will voice the animation film in the Mazsalaca dialect. In the animation workshops, we will film the animation episodes and finally assemble everything together, thus creating the animated film “A Foal, a Cow, a Little Lamb, and Other Creatures of God.” To keep things from getting too tiring, we’ll play a game or an activity with movement elements between workshops, and of course, we will SOCIALIZE and enjoy the summer.
