The camp “Daugava stories 2023” returns to Ogre once more

With the financial support of the Society Integration Fund, from July 30th to August 4th, 2023, an overnight camp “Daugava stories 2023” will be held in Ogre, which is organized to strengthen the connection of diaspora children and youth with Latvia.

This is the anniversary year of “Daugava stories”. The camp will be held for the fifth time and after a break of a few years and camps in Aizkraukle and Dignāja, it returns to Ogre once again. We will welcome 33 children and young people aged 8-14 at the camp, including 26 foreign Latvians from Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Germany and 7 participants recommended and supported by the Rēzekne region.

Friends. Thoughts. Work. Songs. Design. Life! – This will be the story of  Daugava this summer, which we offer to experience and tell together on the picturesque banks of Daugava and Ogre rivers and in activities that will take place in the cozy premises of the Ogre technical school.

At the camp, we will create a story together, the beginning of which will be in ourselves, the ideas will be complemented by the romantically challenging Blue Mountains and an adventure in the trees – the Giant’s Trail, design lessons will bring colors and volume, the speed of ideas and the spirit of competition will develop in the LEGO robotics workshop and sports activities. We will make language and thoughts take flight in the Latvian language and traditions workshop, as well as getting to know the city of Ogre and going on a trip to the Castle of Light in Riga.

The work group of the camp, tested in Southern Europe and Latvia, offers 6 intense days of activity, living in the Ogre technical school and working in various fields and participating in activities on site, in the immediate vicinity and in Riga. This time, after a longer break, LEGO robotics workshop will be available, there will also be a woodworking workshop and, of course, the night track that everyone is waiting for!

At the end of the camp, we will welcome parents and friends to tell you the story of this summer’s Daugava!
